Let's Rodeo San Antonio!

I get to go to the rodeo today! On a Tuesday! Oh, the indulgence. I used to go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo every year when I was a kid. My dad worked for Morgan Buildings and Spas and they would always have a booth set up there. I would go to "show off" the spas and swim and play while my dad worked. We went once during college and a couple years ago Brian and I went to the Austin rodeo where we saw sheep dog trials, and other animals and attractions but no concert. This is our first time to go to the San Antonio rodeo but I just know it will be great!

Brian and I will be heading out right after we get home from work to go see Darius Rucker of former Hootie and the Blowfish fame at the rodeo. Making a stop on the way. When I was in 6th grade, my parents gave me a CD player for Christmas. Knowing that was the plan, my uncle, who belonged to one of those silly CD of the month clubs (get 12 free CDs when you buy 1!) got me my first two CDs. They were Jimmy Buffett (which I pronounced Jimmy Buffet) Songs You Know by Heart and Hootie and the Blowfish, Cracked Rear View. I still listen to both of these every now and then! The next day I used Christmas money to buy Mariah Carey, Daydream.

I saw Hootie and the Bloofish in 2006 at the Woodlands and very much enjoyed the show as well as the nostalgia that went with. As many of you probably know, Darius Rucker has since gone solo and has an album that I really like plus a few great singles that play on the Americana station locally. Since I was in charge of getting the tickets we'll be up in the rafters, but I figure the sound will travel up there just the same. We're going to see the concert but I also hope to get to see the animals of the stock show, too. That's usually my favorite part, but late in the evening they're usually holed up asleep. They have to rest up for their competitions and performances!

On the way to the rodeo, we'll be stopping to meet brand new baby Lilly at the hospital! Mitch and Cheryl had their baby yesterday early early morning. We were going to go visit yesterday evening but they were understandably exhausted so we're heading over today. She's big and healthy and doing just great. Hopefully I'll get a picture with her and mom to post later.
